Training: Public Interest Disclosures Act 1994 (PIDA)

 

Overview

It is critical for agencies to ensure that staff understand the provisions of PIDA and the obligations that it imposes upon them. It is also critical that agencies develop appropriate policies and procedures to enable compliance with the new legislation.

The purpose of this training is to provide participants with an overview of PIDA, refresh awareness, highlight the key regulatory requirements and their impact on public authorities.

  • What disclosures are covered (and not covered) by PIDA.

  • How to make a public interest disclosure.

  • What protections are available.

  • How public interest disclosures are dealt with.

  • Role of disclosure officers and disclosure coordinator.

  • External disclosures.

  • Relevant case studies/scenarios to put theory into practice.
